Woman in Pants, Raqqa – www.abounaddara.com 2013

DING DONG IN RAQQA

Ding dong merrily on high
Islamic State  in Raqqa
Until the oil fields run dry
 We rule ok in Raqqa

CHORUS: Gloria
The Caliphate rules  in Raqqa

Ding dong bodies swing on ropes
In Paradise Square in Raqqa
50 lashes for a smoke
In Paradise Square in Raqqa

CHORUS

Assad’s missiles  through the day
 – Civilians  killed  in Raqqa
Obama’s drones  through the night
 – Civilians  killed in Raqqa

CHORUS

E’en so here below below
The woman in pants in Raqqa
Protests daily  and says ‘No!’
No Islamic state in Raqqa

CHORUS: Gloria
Freedom will come to Raqqa!

Syrian Civil Defence in Aleppo – www.whitehelmets.org

AWAY IN ALEPPO

To the air of Away in a Manger

Away in Aleppo
A stone for a bed
The little war orphan
Lay down his sweet head

The bombs in the night sky
dropped down where he lay
But the little war orphan
Had no food that day.

The bombs are exploding
The baby  awakes
But the little war orphan
No crying he makes

Bless all the dear children
In Aleppo’s enclave
And may the White Helmets
Dig him out of his grave.

Abdel Basset Sarout, Homs – elpuercospin Sept 2012

SILENT NIGHT HOMSI NIGHT

Silent night Homsi night
All is calm all is bright
Siege is over  but no-one saved
Bombs are falling on Al Waer
Homs as quiet as the grave (2)

Silent night Homsi night
Grass and olives was their diet
‘Starve or submit’ the regime said
Bakeries bombed there was no bread
Sleep in hunger and dread (2)

Silent night Homsi night
UN grumbled at the sight
Abdel Basset’s team was brave
But Friends of Syria never came
Homs – as quiet as the grave (2)

Barrel bomb, south Damascus – telegraph.com

Song of the Syrian Arab Airforce

( لقوات الجوية العربية السورية‎ )

To the air of Jingle Bells

Dashing through the sky
in a Syrian airforce plane
O’er the streets  we fly
Laughing all the way
Barrel bombs we fling
Setting towns alight
what fun it is to laugh and sing
A slaying song tonight

CHORUS:
Barrel bombs barrel bombs
whistle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a Syrian airforce plane
Barrel bombs barrel bombs
Whistle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a Syrian airforce—Russian export—plane!

Kurdish women at vanguard of Kobani battle against Islamic State – TNN October 13, 2014

I’M DREAMING

To the air of White Christmas

I’m dreaming of a free Nevroz *
Unlike the ones I used to know
I see bonfires blazing
And I think by next spring
Bashar, Baghdadi have to go

I’m dreaming of a free Nevroz
With every battle that I fight
May Kobani be rid of Al Baghdadi
and may all of Syria  be free!

I’m dreaming of a free Nevroz
Unlike the ones of years ago
2008 Qamishli **
2010 Raqqa **
Baathists shot  Kurds down – oh woe!

I’m dreaming of a free Nevroz
Along with every refugee
May Kobani be free of Al Baghdadi
And may all of Syria be free!

* Nevroz: Kurdish Spring Festival,  21 March. Nevroz is usually celebrated with flame – bonfires or torches.

** Baathist Security Services massacres of Kurds celebrating Nevroz in these Syrian towns.

UNSC Resolution 2165 calls on all parties in Syria  to allow humanitarian access;  and gives  the UN  the right to deliver aid without the permission of any party. It has not been enforced.

Yarmouk is a Palestinian refugee camp in Damascus, supposedly under the care of UNWRA.  it has been under starvation siege by the regime.
